Master of Arts

Psychology | M.A. Psychology

The Master of Arts (MA) in Psychology is 100 credits 2- years course. In the first year, the course is of 24 credits per semester. There are four theory courses and one practical/field work.

In the second year, semester III includes five course work (four credits each) and one practical (10 credits) with total 30 credits. Semester IV has one interdisciplinary course (six credits), one ability enhancement course (six credits) and one project (10 credits). There is a balance of theory and practical orientation.

Courses

First year (Semester I)

Understand applications of personality theory to various aspects of life.

To acquaint learners with methodology of quantitative and qualitative psychological research and to design research.

To introduce fundamental concepts about statistical application to psychology, introduce multivariate methods and computer applications to statistics, able to use R for all the methods taught in the course.

Understand and apply cognitive psychology knowledge to real-life problems. Also, to understand theories, biological basis, and development of human emotions.

To design an experiment and appropriate computer program for the same and write technical report.

First Year (Semester II)

To understand specific areas and applications of Evolutionary Psychology.

To acquaint with eclectic, integrated and multicultural approaches to interventions.

To understand issues related to employees from different cultural background, assessment and interventions.

To explain the concepts in positive psychology.

To study the significance of measurement, properties of psychological tool, process of test development.

Second Year (Semester- III)

To acquaint the students with competency- based application in HR Planning, Recruitment and Selection, Employee Training, Performance management, development, career pathing and compensation.

To introduce applied behavioral science principles and practices into the ongoing organization towards the goal of improving organizational effectiveness.

To know the nature, features, processes of O.D interventions.

To know the relationship between training & development and organizational performance and effectiveness, to acquaint with technology- based learning.

To give comprehensive overview of human resource functions.

To understand use of psychometric tools in organizations, analyze the behaviors in work setup.

Second Year (Semester- IV)

To understand the importance of communication and social skills, and learn to develop training modules for the same.

To know how career development relates to human development over the lifespan and to learn skills of interventions in career guidance and counselling.
